Dear Subscriber The weather forecast is mixed for the coming week, so I've selected indoor, outdoor and a few quirky activities to tempt you. There are lots more ideas on the website. For daily updates during the halfterm, follow our twitter feed. Happy holidays, Sarah
For when it's raining.... If you're musical Family Sundays at the Royal Opera House have their last session this Sunday 25th May, or help a herd of dinosaurs overcome a number of challenges at the Look Out Discovery Centre. The British Museum have a free 'Marvellous Mummies' interactive show 26th to 30th May.
Some great ideas for outdoor fun.... Box Hill is a wonderful location for trails, stepping stones in the river, and between 26th and 30th May the National Trust have special children's activities which include den building, crafts and quiz trails. The Priory Farm Discovery Trail is open daily throughout the half-term and has a Scarecrow theme. Have you ever tried the Princess Diana memorial walk? It's a great 7 mile trail which takes in London parks and landmarks.
Where have all the windmills gone? Well luckily there are still some wonderful Windmills to visit in London and the South East preserved by volunteer groups. Upminster Windmill is open 31st May, and there is a 5 storey windmill in Shirley open 1st June. The windmill in Wimbledon is open weekends and the bank holiday.
