Winter fun days out
Dear Subscriber
MERRY CHRISTMAS to all subscribers and also many thanks for your feedback and encouragement over the last year.  Just in case you have time over the winter holidays to get out and about, below are some tips and ideas for free, and nearly free family days out.  I've separated the listings into Christmassy and non-Christmassy things to do - or use the search function to find activities for a specific day. Enjoy!
Many thanks, Leonora
Free and nearly free Christmas activities
Everything with a Christmas theme is in one listing.  This includes arts and craft activities, walks and storytelling events.
Also, if you haven't seen the Christmas lights in London yet that is an easy free day out.  My top locations are Oxford Street, Regent Street, Carnaby Street and Covent Garden.  In Covent Garden you will find lots of street entertainers as well as a giant lego advent calendar!
Indoor and Outdoor fun things to do
If you are hoping to avoid Christmas themed events, the main visitor attractions in London and Surrey have lots on offer.  For a quick view, take a look at the listing for December 2012, or January 2013 - or search events on the specific day.
My favourite indoor events include 'Jigsaw Japes' at the Bank of England Museum, and 'Fantastic Figureheads' at the National Maritime Museum.
For outdoor activities, try the stick man trail at Alice Holt Forest.  Or plan a day out in Painshill Park - there is free entry every Wednesday in January!
Ice Skating in London and Surrey
The skating newsletter has been very popular, so I've added a link in here - all the temporary, festive ice rinks are open until at least  6th January.
Remember that there is always high demand for the stabilisers for children, so try and book these in advance.
