Free family days out this Autumn
Dear Subscriber
Hope you all had a wonderful summer – let me know if you have found any new locations you think we should add to the Fab Family Days website.   In September a huge number of locations, all across the UK, give free access for just for one weekend.  The Shard is one of 4 locations in London allocating tickets by ballot – further details below in the Open House London section.
Lots more Autumn events and activities have been added to the website, so if you are stuck for something to do – take a look at the ideas listed.
Best wishes, Sarah
Heritage Open Weekend 12 - 15 September
This link takes you to the listing for Surrey – among the many churches on the list there is also free access to National Trust properties, guided walks around some local towns, and several water towers to choose from!  To search for events in your preferred area, use the advanced search facility on the Heritage Open Weekend site.
If you would rather do something outdoors - the Downlands Project are running a Countryside Day Sunday 15th, starting at 10.30am.  On offer are childrens activities, tractor-pulled trailer rides, craft activities and nature trails - more details on the home page.
Open House London 21 - 22 September
You may have spotted that there are no London locations taking part in the Heritage Open Weekend, that’s because they have their own event the following weekend 21st & 22nd September - this link takes you to the specific family events.
There are 4 locations which are holding a ballot to allocate a restricted number of tickets – enter your details before Friday 13th September to get exclusive access to the Shard, London Eye, Downing street and Gray’s Inn.
Tour of Britain 15 - 22 September
For cycling fans, we get the return of the Tour of Britain cycling event to the Surrey area.   The race starts in the North of England 15th September and travels through Scotland before coming to the South East for the final two stages.  Stage 7 (21st September) starts in Epsom and finishes in Guildford, and Stage 8 (22nd September) – the last stage – takes place in and around London.   For more details of the route in the Surrey area load up the interactive map
